What is Microneedling?

Microneedling, also referred to as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), has emerged as a recent trend in the realm of beauty. This procedure aids in significant skin revitalization by stimulating the body’s inherent healing mechanisms to promote collagen production. This approach, which has garnered support through empirical validation, contributes to the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, enhancement of skin evenness and texture, rectification of sun-induced damage, and successful management of various skin ailments. Beyond its role in fostering a more youthful, robust, and lively skin appearance, microneedling displays notable efficacy in diminishing the presence of stretch marks and acne scars. The procedure’s attributes involve minimal invasiveness, absence of significant discomfort, and little to no downtime.
Why our patients love it:

How does it work?

Microneedling utilizes controlled injury to tap into the body’s natural healing process. The treatment is performed with a roller-pen, equipped with fine-precision micro-needles. The pen rolls over the skin, allowing the needles to finely puncture the subdermal layer, at minimal injury to the epidermis. Each needle creates a channel that the body wants to fill in with new tissue, triggering the release of cytokines and other growth hormones that stimulate the production and remodeling of collagen and elastin. Collagen and elastin are structural proteins found within the demis layer of the skin.

They create new tissue following an injury, and provide the skin with the structural support and flexibility that characterizes beautiful, healthy, young skin. Clinical research finds that in addition to creating more collagen and elastin, microneedling thickens the epidermis and creates new blood vessels to improve blood supply.

Microneedling Downtime and Aftercare

Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment that requires very little downtime compared to other cosmetic procedures. Individual experiences may vary but most patients experience mild redness and/or mild swelling following the microneedling treatment. This that looks similar to mild sunburn. These symptoms may last between 2 to 4 days following the treatment, with many patients experiencing a return to normal looking skin in 24 hours.

Benefits of Microneedling

Improved Skin Texture and Tone

Microneedling can help improve the overall texture and tone of the skin. It can reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and other irregularities by promoting the growth of new skin cells and collagen fibers.

Reduced Scarring

Microneedling is often used to diminish the appearance of scars, including acne scars, surgical scars, and stretch marks. The controlled micro-injuries stimulate the skin’s healing process, leading to a smoother and more even skin surface.

Minimized Pore Size

Microneedling can help reduce the size of enlarged pores by increasing skin elasticity and promoting collagen production, which can lead to a more refined skin texture.

Increased Collagen Production

Collagen is a protein that provides structure and firmness to the skin. Microneedling triggers the body’s natural collagen production, leading to improved skin elasticity and a more youthful appearance.

Reduced Hyperpigmentation

Microneedling can help improve the appearance of hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone by promoting the turnover of skin cells and encouraging the growth of new, healthier skin.

FAQS

Is Microneedling Safe on All Skin Types?

Microneedling is a safe procedure. Despite the initial concern that needles might be alarming, microneedling proves to be less invasive compared to various other cosmetic treatments. The usage of delicate and precise micro-needles in the MD pen ensures that the puncturing reaches an effective depth, providing maximum advantages while minimizing harm to the outer skin layer, known as the epidermis. This approach prevents the activation of melanin production, which is responsible for hyperpigmentation, making microneedling a safe option for all skin types. Additionally, since the procedure doesn’t harm or strip away the top skin layer, the risks of scarring and negative side effects are minimal.

How much does microneedling cost?

Microneedling cost depends on the treatment area, the number of sessions in your treatment plan, and if you are receiving microneedling as a stand-alone treatment or in conjunction with other cosmetic treatments. During your consultation, we will discuss microneedling prices and help you customize a treatment plan that both delivers results and stays within your budget.

Microneedling Pain: Does Microneedling Hurt?

Microneedling discomfort is generally quite mild, and the majority of patients describe it as a painless procedure, though personal sensations can differ. The MD pen employs extremely fine needles, and a topical anesthetic is administered before the treatment to enhance your ease during the process.
